Introduction
The Festival de Valloires was launched in August 2006 and brings together some of the world’s greatest artists for a few intensive days of music-making at one of France’s most beautiful abbeys.

The Abbaye de Valloires is in the delightful village of Argoules, nestling in the valley of the river Autie, with its picturesque villages and ancient buildings. The Abbey’s church, cloisters and gardens, the rural surroundings and the comfortable hotel and restaurant facilities in the immediate neighbourhood, make this an ideal setting for an intimate and informal festival of music making at the highest international level.

The Festival aims to provide:
  • A chamber music festival on a truly international level, rivalling the major European festivals.
  • International artists of the highest callibre, mixing all generations, with a strong accent on young artists.
  • World class music-making in an intimate and convivial atmosphere
  • Programmes whose repertoire is built around one or two central composers
  • Artists who will where possible be present for the duration of the festival, creating links between artists and audiences
  • Masterclasses and workshops, allowing brilliant young musicians to work closely with artists of the highest international level.
  • Radio coverage of the festival, through Radio France
  • Involvement of travel bureaux specialising in cultural and musical tours
  • The involvement of local groups and artists in special free events organised around the main festival.
  • An intimate and informal atmosphere bringing together audiences and artists, with post-concert dinners
